THE UP NORTH AND THE CYCLE OF USE AND DUMP.

On the 15th of May, I raised an alarm on this page.
I warned that a plan was underway to finish the political relevance of Northern elders.
Today, that warning has matured into reality.

The assignment has been completed with those who were kept in the inner circle.
Now, the focus has shifted to new ones.

Let us speak with history, not anger.

In 2023, one name carried the weight of the Northern strategy that delivered that election.
Nasir El-Rufai.

He was not a spectator.
He led the legal challenge against policies that threatened the election.
He mobilized structures. He delivered votes.
He defended the founding agreement of the party. 8 years in the north. Then to the south.

He kept his part of the bargain.

But power has a short memory.
The engine that led the delivery was sidelined from the beginning. and that is where the problems of the APC started.
From ally, to outsider. From architect, to "leader of particular concern."

Now the cycle has started again.

Senator Abdul’azeez Yari. the man currently dancing to the tune of tinubu has been rewarded with DG of the APC Campaign.
Nuhu Ribadu. who used his office to interfere in judicial processes. has now been left behind.
His office has been split in two. He no longer controls internal security affairs.

Most of the crucial positions were given to the North, because he believes Northern votes alone are enough to get him re-elected, so he can continue from where he stopped.

This is not new. This is his pattern.
Bring them in to deliver. Use them to stabilize. Cut their influence. Then set them aside.

Senator Yari should take note.
The same road that El-Rufai walked is the road ahead.
The applause today will turn to silence tomorrow.

But the truth is this? the dominance of the APC as we have known it is already in decline.
And before the curtain falls, more Northern leaders will be called, used, and discarded.

To the Big North. To the young Wake up.
Do not enter the same well twice.
Do not mistake appointment for power, or title for respect.

History is watching. The people are watching.
And the time to redirect our energy is now.

We had SURE-P under Jonathan, and under Buhari, we had N-Power, TraderMoni, the school feeding programme, and several major infrastructure projects.

Buhari’s administration constructed the Abuja–Kaduna railway, Lagos–Ibadan railway, Itakpe–Warri railway, the Lekki Deep Sea Port, and the Second Niger Bridge. His government also approved bailout funds for 27 states, paid ₦72 billion to Rivers State for federal road projects executed under Rotimi Amaechi, paid the 13% derivation to oil-producing states in the Niger Delta, and continued paying fuel and electricity subsidies.

Despite all these expenses, the government also spent heavily to defend the naira and support education.

So, with all the money saved from the removal of fuel and electricity subsidies and other policies, can someone point to one major achievement of Tinubu’s administration that compares with Buhari’s?

To me, Tinubu’s administration has been a disaster, and I do not believe he deserves another opportunity to lead Nigeria.

This was a surprise because Edo is not on the coast of West Africa; Edo lies on the existing East-to-West road, which remains incomplete.

Today, Edo’s “express roads” are gridlocked. This congestion highlights how vital Edo is to the flow of commerce in Nigeria.

When you look at the types of cars, you see trucks carrying heavy containers, as there has been no railway connecting any part of the West to any part of the East since 1960.
