New Kent Sheriff’s Office Animal Protection Unit Investigating Animal Cruelty Case Involving Pregnant Dog
The New Kent County Sheriff’s Office Animal Protection Unit is actively investigating a serious animal cruelty case involving a female dog that was recently located with a metal wire tightly wrapped around her neck.

As shown in the attached photograph shared by our office on social media today, the wire caused severe swelling to the dog’s face and neck. At the time she was found, the dog was also visibly pregnant. She was immediately transported to an emergency veterinary clinic for lifesaving care.

Following examination, the attending veterinarian advised that, in their professional opinion, the wire was intentionally placed around the dog’s neck. The dog remains hospitalized, and a cesarean section is currently being performed in an attempt to save her puppy. At this time, the outcome is unknown.

This incident is being investigated as an animal cruelty case.

We are asking for the public’s help. By sharing this image and information, we hope to generate leads that may assist in identifying the owner of this dog and determining who is responsible for this act. Even the smallest detail could be critical to this investigation.
