At the High-Level Forum on Ending Mother-to-Child Transmission and Achieving the Triple Elimination of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B, I joined fellow First Ladies, leaders, and partners in affirming a shared commitment: that no African child should begin life with a burden they did not choose.
Africa stands at a moment of profound possibility. We have made remarkable progress in reducing new paediatric HIV infections, but we must remember that progress is not victory. Every child still born with HIV reminds us to quicken our pace, and every mother who misses care calls us to strengthen our health systems with urgency and compassion.
No child should begin life with a burden they did not choose. Ending mother-to-child transmission is not only a medical obligation, it is a moral responsibility that calls for leadership, unity, and collective action.
Arrived in Accra to join fellow First Ladies under the @OAFLAD umbrella, together with our partners, for the High-Level Forum on the Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission and the Triple Elimination of HIV, Syphilis, and Hepatitis B in Africa.
