President Barzani’s Message on the 50th Anniversary of the May (Gulan) Revolution

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful,

The May (Gulan) Revolution marked an important and decisive stage in the struggle of the people of Kurdistan. It was a continuation of the great September Revolution, carrying forward its message and objectives.

The May Revolution demonstrated to all that, even if the struggle of the people of Kurdistan faces a temporary setback at any stage, the will of this people will never be broken. On the contrary, they will continue their struggle and resistance with renewed hope and determination until their sacred goals are achieved.

The May Revolution prevailed because it was founded on the bravery of the Peshmerga, the steadfastness of the people, strong organization, and the clarity of its slogans and objectives.

On the 50th anniversary of the outbreak of the May Revolution, I extend my appreciation to the people of Kurdistan, and to all the fighters, Peshmerga, and patriots who played a heroic role in this revolution, whether inside Kurdistan or abroad. Through their sacrifice and dedication, they wrote a bright chapter in the history of their people—one filled with pride and glory.

On this occasion, we pay tribute to the soul of the first martyr of the May Revolution, Martyr Sayyid Abdullah Haji Omrani, and to the souls of all the martyrs of the May Revolution, as well as all the martyrs of the Kurds and Kurdistan.

The freedom and achievements our people enjoy today are the result of the blood of the martyrs, the heroism of the Peshmerga, and the efforts and dedication of the fighters of the May Revolution and all the revolutions of the people of Kurdistan.

ئەنفال برینێكی قووڵە لە دڵی هەموو خەڵكی كوردستان، یەکێکە لە گەورەترین تاوانەکان ��ە لەلایەن دەسەڵاتدارانی پێشووی عێراقەوە بە شێوەیەکی سیستەماتیک و ئامانجدار لەدژی گەلی كوردستان پیادە كرا. لە ئەنجامی ئەو كردەوە نامرۆڤانەیەدا سەد و هەشتا و دوو هەزار هاوڵاتیی کورد بە بێ ئەوەی هیچ تاوانێكیان كردبێت و تەنیا لەبەر كوردبوونیانەوە بێسەروشوێن و شەهید كران. هەروەها كیمیابارانكردن، تەعریب، دەركردنی بەزۆر، گۆڕینی دیموگرافی و وێرانكردنی هەزاران گوند و هەوڵدان بۆ تێكدانی هەموو بنچینەكانی ژیان لە كوردستان، بەشێكی تری ئەو تاوانانە بوو كە حكومەتی پێشووی عێراق لەدژی گەلی كوردستان ئەنجامی داوە.

ئەنفال زوڵمێكی زۆر گەورە بوو لە هەمانكاتدا وانەیەكی گرنگە بۆ نەوەكانی ئێستا و داهاتوو كە نابێ لەژێر هیچ بارودۆخێكدا فەرامۆش بكرێت. پێویستە لە ئاستی نێودەوڵەتی ئەم تاوانە بە جینۆساید بناسرێت و لە ئاستی عێراقدا ئەو دڵنیاییە هەبێت کە ئەم تاوانانە لە بەرانبەر گەلی كوردستان هەرگیز دووبارە نابنەوە. هەروەها ئەركی سەرشانی دەوڵەتی عێراقە قەرەبووی ئەنفال و ئەو جینۆسایدە بكات كە لەدژی میللەتەكەمان ئەنجام دراوە.
