Happy to see this this synthesis framework out to increase pace of action managing western forests for climate change resilience.. https://t.co/Q6UzuXnE6W @StanfordWoods
🔥🌲 Climate-driven wildfires pose a large and growing threat to people and planet. #Stanford research is studying the impact of frequent & intense wildfire, considering how we can adapt, and exploring solutions.

While it's surreal to see a chapter of my dissertation in NYT, I'm grateful for the opportunity to bring the conversation about impending ecological transitions and their implications to a broad audience.

A bottom-up view of fire-driven changes in decomposition may help to elucidate counterintuitive trends in the response of soil carbon to burning and open avenues to the sustainable use of fire for nature-based climate solutions

Sobering reality check on need for carbon dioxide removal and/or geoengineering, on top of dramatic decarbonization from @DKeithClimate via @NYTOpinion. https://t.co/IbPUcgavUR
Co-convened an inspiring #AGU session on the 'Immense Pressures and High Expectations' facing forest ecosystem services in the coming decades. Talks: https://t.co/jbqsaqFbmQ and posters: https://t.co/YwN04yenU8 . Thanks to great presenters! @wangathan@HaoTangGEDI@CA_CECS
If you want to know how we can use the COVID shutdown to learn about environmental racism, go check out my talk at #AGU20!
I'm lucky to get to present this work on behalf of an awesome team from @GPS_UCSD, @Scripps_Ocean and elsewhere.

As a new owner of both indoor+outdoor PurpleAir sensors, and as a new user of these data for multiple research projects, I wanted to look at sensor ownership by income. This is important for understanding how to use these sensors to track air qual across different demographics
On the left, California at 11am this morning from satellite. On the right, the same shot at 7pm this evening. Shows you the enormous amount of smoke sent into the atmosphere from numerous fires that broke out today. #CreekFire#ValleyFire#ElDoradoFire
How should #forests of the #anthropocene serve "the greatest good for the greatest number for the longest time"? Consider submitting an abstract to GC005: Managing Forest Ecosystems for Multiple Benefits in the Anthropocene at #AGU20@wangathan https://t.co/pB80UNbq3G
White, institutional blindness is in fact a choice that can’t be tolerated; we must act to dismantle the specific mechanisms that perpetuate anti-black racism and systemic inequity. Spending the day working toward these goals. #shutdownSTEM#shutdownAcademia
Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, and is responsible for about a quarter of the warming we have experienced to-date. Reducing methane emissions is an important part of climate mitigation. Its also important to understand that methane is very different from CO2.

@GlobalEcoGuy California's #SSJDelta harbors degraded peat soils that are being restored to accrete soil, take pressure off fragile levees, and sequester carbon. Check out the work of @BerkeleyBiomet quantifying the impacts (including CH4) of this NCS: https://t.co/jOikBjTzrw. @DeltaCouncil
New report on how CA can be a leader in negative emissions! I was predisposed to be skeptical, because of the history of reports on "technical potentials" that don't look at social feasibility. Here's why I thought the report was great.
