Had the privilege to share the importance of including TB in the OneHealth agenda at the EU-Africa Science Summit. Global Commitment, Collaboration, Infrastructure and R&D investments are vital to help #endtb#aerapscience#globalfund
@KatharinaKranz4 @EraseTb@ThruZim@EDCTP @LMU_Uniklinikum @EMarambire@KarlosKCM@MathaChipinduro@BRTI_ZIMBABWE@JuniorMutsvang@ZvitamboZim @NoHeinrich Congrats👏 that’s no mean feat! The Zim team evaluated our extra pulmonary test IRISA-TB developed on the African continent. They did a sterling job.Published their results. Ran workshops amidst challenging hurdles.
Let’s connect - we would love to support the efforts of Erase-TB!
Fascinating how in South Africa, with so many traffic lights not working due to power outages, the homeless/beggars/car guards (zero traffic qualification of course) end up traffic controllers at big intersections and drivers just accept it… it works until it doesn’t I guess!
This year, @GlobalFund is calling on the world to fight for what counts to save 20 million more lives. We need your help! Can we count on you? Add your name to the #FightForWhatCounts petition and tell the world “Count me in!” https://t.co/sLH3bMix5f
Nice review on spectrum of TB infection manifestations.
Breadth of disease extent will require corresponding breadth of clinical management strategies. @eBioMedicine

Spent some time at the Apartheid Museum last weekend with tears rolling down my cheeks. We lived through this period and transitioned to democracy based on the character and strength of profound humans.
I feel and embrace the greater responsibility to let our greatness blossom🌸
"I'm not sure if resilience is ever achieved alone. Experience allows us to learn from example. But if we have someone who loves us—I don't mean who indulges us, but who loves us enough to be on our side—then it's easier to grow resilience..." #MayaAngelou https://t.co/aPNs5HV9eP
Heterogeneous-agent New Keynesian models (HANKs) are at the forefront of research in monetary economics.
What do we know about optimal monetary policy in these models? How does household/firm/bank heterogeneity affect MP design?
A short (personal and technical) 🧵

@ChrisHatt11 Developers and their lawyers need a lesson in math. Job creation numbers are way over inflated and penalty calculations are paltry compared to the projected rental revenue. Choosing a green site miles away from where jobs need to be created smacks of greedy capitalists.
@paimadhu @edwindaniels1@ONECampaign The skills, the drive and the passion to becoming self reliant is definitely here. We need to build our own vaccine manufacturing (now happening at a massive scale), drug development and diagnostic manufacturing capacity. Funding, however, is severely limited.
@paimadhu @fibke Reasons range from an inability to reach healthcare facilities to get the vaccine to simply no interest in getting the vaccine in the first place.
SA has vaccinated 50% of its population. And there are over 7.4million Pfizer vaccines expiring now. Supply is not the issue.
@ravinaidoo Your description is classic! They have mastered the art of shortermism and implementing multitudes of interventions with no long term gains.
Incredibly humbled to be working on this mission for the past decade in developing niche diagnostic tests for TB.
Join us as we support greater testing capacity as TB is treatable if found timeously.
Is there an intersect in the diagnosis and treatment of #TB & #COVID19? What are the differences between these 2 respiratory system related conditions?
To know more, tune into @984Midlands this morning at 11.30 as UZT PMDT officer Dr Manyati @Doc_R_C unpacks key concepts.

@TDivala Partly due to poor Global distribution as well as a huge dose of vaccine hesitancy.
Wonder what will happen to the massive investments being made into vaccine manufacturing infrastructure.
