That's probably the most important and positive initiative to come out of the Macron-Xi meeting.

A worldwide truce would be a beautiful thing if it concretizes, all the more if it comes at the initiative of France and China, as a symbol of a post-unipolar world that's not US-led anymore.

After, easier said than done! Because you just know that since it isn't US-led, and all the more because it's half led by China, the US will undoubtedly refuse on principle.

Reading past the headline of the article you link they aren't "paid to protest" at all. There's a fund that covers expenses, mostly for organisers, for travel costs, wages lost if taking time off work to do it etc. Did you not read the article beyond the headline?
