Loving the #ICOTE2023 already! Has got me thinking about clinical educators - I’m aware of research into the characteristics of ‘high quality’ educators, but how can we support and build these skills - particularly in fieldwork - especially if there is limited ‘buy-in?’
I’ve started to notice themes such as limited capacity / burnout, different perspectives and values towards practice education, and / or a lack of self-awareness. Keen to know how others in fieldwork address this?
@TcBevitt @UCFacultyHealth@StephenIsbel What a fantastic research project - looking forward to reading this and hearing more about your future findings and work!
@merrolee@margaret_bea@emolloy1@physio_leo@RobertPWells Such an interesting topic! Loved having both SW and OT perspectives in considering this and how we can support supervisors to not only acknowledge, but build it into their practice. Looking forward to the next one.
@merrolee Just read the article you and Anne wrote and loved how 'easy' it was to read, as well as how often I thought "yes - that!!" Now onto the next one!
@merrolee Yes please! Can see parallels to some of the readings from the clinical reasoning lit review I did a few months back. Would love to review and discuss with the team - especially multi-disc.
@RachaelD_OT I had my last placement in 2016 and am now on the other side, but I found / find collaboration around expectations and learning experiences (objectives) helpful - for the student, university, and supervisor. Also agree about MDT opportunities too!
@kelly_bowden@PennineCareNHS@DrJaKindell@SchofieldSian@clareparkernhs@mattwalshNDQ Love this! It's always struck me as odd that we highlight the importance of this for students on placement, yet it appears to be lost once we lose the title / role of 'student.' Lifelong learning needs critical reflection and evaluation - with peers is even better.
@AmandaRishworth @TcBevitt @DylanAlcott I love Dylan's passion for what he's involved in - nothing is half-hearted! Absolutely agree. Listen first, then work WITH those with lived experience.
