@jf30__ It seems unlikely LFC will sign Barcola now that they have Ngumoha, Gakpo, and Munoz as left wing options. I believe that the board will be more focused on Diomande, who is seen as the stronger option for the right wing.
Munoz can play both wings, and his signing ensures the club enters the season with strong options if moves for primary targets fail. It appears to be a strategic LFC move, adding depth while giving the board leverage to negotiate firmly and walk away if demands become excessive.
Gakpo may not be elite, but he’s a great player to write off. Worrying seeing some LFC fans want him sold after 1 poor season, forgetting his 10 EPL goals in 24/25 helped fuel our title push. Many came in key moments, turning games when we were behind or stuck in tight contests.
Watching some Gakpo tapes.
His issue is he is simply too tall to be an out and out winger. Like he is basically the same height as Van Dijk. Don’t think people realise how ridiculous that is for a winger
Much higher centre of gravity, lacks ability to consistently control a ball, but also get proper explosiveness.
Can’t be relying on him to take on his man. Needs consistent overlaps to be threatening. But he is deadly when he can get off to his right foot.
Fabinho and Jota were surprise signings that came out of nowhere, much like how the Munoz deal has unfolded. Both went on to become successful signings for LFC, and hopefully Munoz enjoys the same success at the club 👍
Now that LFC hijacked Newcastle’s move for Munoz, Newcastle can stop crying and instead prove some balls by hijacking LFC’s reported interest in Leipzig’s Diomande.
@WilcoFtbl Selling Gakpo when Ekitike is already injured and having isak as the only striking option means you'll have to go back to the Market for a striker. I don't see how a sane board does that, let him stay as our impact sub
