heraclitus (Ἡράκλειτος, dk 22 b45) says of the soul: “ψυχῆς πείρατα ἰὼν οὐκ ἂν ἐξεύροιο, πᾶσαν ἐπιπορευόμενος ὁδόν· οὕτω βαθὺν λόγον ἔχει” (“you would not find the limits of the soul, though you travelled every road; so deep a logos it possesses”).
