So there's a longer convo here. Instead I'll just end with some friendly advice. Stop talking about "merit". Ask other people to sing your praises and help you get promoted, because you're awesome. Also, sing other people's praises. Help them get promoted because they're awesome
@PlanetofFinks I think it’s because there is some lack of respect for game storytelling. The immersion in games and movies is different too just due to the direct control so you’ll overlook some things. A movie script has to make up for those gaps and tie together loose ends
@GergelyOrosz I think it’s ego and sometime a huge lack of tooling. I love doing it but it’s also a very exhausting process. Anecdotally, we’ve found it adds a sense of “urgency” that maybe isn’t there when working alone
@kefimochi Time tracked every 15+ minutes of my day, had to explain what I did, then submit at eod. Managers did not read the sheet and would reiterate questions about what I was doing. Ironically, I spent more time doing admin work for tasks than the tasks themselves.
