GPs have won a major protection for patients in their negotiations with NHSE & Govt
Guarantee of referral, no target for rejections, clear documentation of Advice and Guidance with Consultant name & GMC number
Patient safety is always the priority
Govt needs to listen to GPs
@Lilas_T_@catherineroyuk No, thank you.
All women are people.
Not everyone who is pregnant is a woman.
Some are children.
Some are men.
Some are non-binary.
I am choosing my words with intention, knowledge and kindness.
I’ve read hooks, Butler, Lorde, Crenshaw, Dworkin etc : I’m good, thanks.
@dieworkwear Is it me (fully prepared that it might just be me) , but I *really* don’t like different views of a single item edited to form one picture, of what appears to be multiple items, beside each other.
Just show me several pictures, in succession, of the singular item.
@catherineroyuk Informed dissent has to be INFORMED for it to be LEGITIMATE.
Someone can’t consent to a risky situation if they don’t understand and accept the risks.
Someone who had a massive dopamine hit from attending a risky VBAc that went well…are they best placed to objectively inform?
@mwfrymusing@catherineroyuk 1w for us to get letters: we get letters from booking but often not until after 12w.
Sometimes we have info on our systems patients have forgotten or not disclosed at booking.If we are told that a booking appointment is *planned* we potentially have 4-6 weeks more to spot issues.
I do not support the introduction of a 'maternity commissioner'.
We already have a person responsible and accountable for maternity care - @wesstreeting.
All of the things it is said a maternity commissioner would do are his job. I don't want any distractions from that.
@melcharlotte19@catherineroyuk Locally no one books before 11w because they do dating scan at a single first appointment. It’s NI.
They don’t follow NICE antenatal guidance.
@catherineroyuk She turns up to collect a prescription for her mother and collapses at our front desk…would it, perhaps, be useful to know she is 11weeks pregnant and due to have a booking appointment next week, and to have that on OUR system, not just EPIC?
“No More Silos”, my bum!
@catherineroyuk So…
If pregnant people self book, and only get seen at 12w, and we, as GPs aren’t told they are pregnant until after that appointment and we receive a letter from the MWs, can *anyone* see a potential safety issue?
Anyone?
@catherineroyuk Congrats on the book!
Obviously, ordered and can’t wait to read.
Just popping back here to say so (I’m chilling in the supportive chaos of Threads, I can’t do this site any more).
@melcharlotte19@catherineroyuk Patients think we know they are pregnant so they don’t tell us. We presume they’ll tell us if they are pregnant: do you see how a serious error in the first trimester could easily happen?
@melcharlotte19@catherineroyuk The gap between telling maternity and booking can be 6w.
In my locality, some people weren’t having booking appointments until 14w due to COVID backlogs: GP not informed until AFTER booking, instead of at first contact with antenatal is a serious safety issue!!
@sunshine222blue@catherineroyuk But how was the appointment arranged? Did you tell your GP who the referred you to antenatal?
I now have patients who phone me with severe morning sickness they’ve had for weeks, *and I didn’t even know they were pregnant* because antenatal doesn’t communicate with GP until 12w!
I don't understand why the Prez doesn't use a fountain pen. A Sharpie is undignified for such important docs. Several companies, such as Franklin-Christoph and Edison Pen Co., make fountain pens in the US for about $150/ pen. Not an unreasonable expense for a man in a gold room.
So, what I want to know is, as door chains cost £7 each and take almost no time or skill to install, has @TravelodgeUK ensured that every bedroom is fitted with one?
If so, good!
Make it public.
If not, why not?
It’s the easiest gesture to say “we care about your security!
A woman who was sexually assaulted in a Travelodge hotel room after her attacker was given access to her room, has told Good Morning Britain she believes this could happen again to someone else.
Labour MP Matt Bishop, who has been supporting Emily and joined her in the meeting with CEO Jo Boydell, tells @PaulBrandITV and @kategarraway about the meeting and what needs to be done.
