@BirthTrauma How is it harder when accessing paper ones? The paper ones are in the archives and the electronic can be accessed from your work computer.
@BirthTrauma@prvatrixia On postnatal ward if simple anaglesia is not enough and nothing is precribed, midwives are supposed to escalate to the doctors and request prescription of stronger pain relief.
@Dannieo1982 How is it considered acceptable to treat a patient who has just experienced massive blood loss like this? In any other ward you'd be told to take all the rest and sleep you can get, eat all the food and drink all the fluids... in maternity... pump yourself dry.
@LucyGoBag Midwives are asked to offer breastfeeding support first, to document lots, there were also stickers that parents were consulted on the harms of formula.... There is just no time for this, so it all distills to either dismissing the parents or ignoring the guidence.
@LucyGoBag withholding formula is part of BFI policy, midwives are taught they need to have very clear justification to give formula to parents, not just parent's feelings that the baby is maybe hungry because he/she doesn't settle.
Today saw the publication of the list of members of 'expert reference groups' which will advise the maternity taskforce.
It makes for absolutely devastating reading for harmed & bereaved families. So many of these people are *perpetrators*.

@DrSdeG This is interesting. I am still very confused on the way GLP1 works. Are they beneficial at all for people whose obesity is not linked to overeating? And if someone is eating less because of these, how would they deal with dizziness associated with skipping meals?
@Sacha118848@RMatthewsPsych@wesstreeting My little boy broke his arm about 5 years ago, it was a visible fracture and dislocation and he was visibly distressed: not crying, but looking pale and shocked. As soon as they realised, he was given a little room, sat on a trolley and had some oromorph.
@RMatthewsPsych@wesstreeting This sounds horrible that our children need to go through it. Hours in A&E, in pain, no support, then back again for more checks. I hope she recovers well.
It’s maternal mental health awareness week and I just want to remind everyone that you can have a very wanted and cared for baby and still have terrible mental health, both during and after pregnancy. It doesn’t make you a bad mum. Struggling is not failing.
It’s Maternal Mental Health Week and we need to talk about something that doesn’t get enough airtime:
Toxic positivity in motherhood is harming women’s health.
The constant pressure to feel grateful.
To “soak in every moment.”
To call exhaustion “a blessing.”
No.
You can love your child deeply and be overwhelmed.
You can feel grateful and struggle.
You can choose motherhood and still grieve the parts of yourself you’ve lost.
When we silence the hard parts, we isolate women.
When we sugarcoat the reality, we delay support and mental healthcare.
When we normalize suffering, we ignore solutions.
This isn’t about being negative.
It’s about being honest.
Because honesty is what actually gets women help.
Every four minutes, a mother’s trust in the NHS is broken after giving birth.
This report puts the spotlight on a generation of women who felt abandoned at the worst moment.
Women deserve maternity care that treats their concerns as real, and is properly staffed to keep mothers and babies safe.
@Daily_Express
@chefsevenn I remember trying to put chocolate into soup that I hated. Dad was very upset because he wanted finish after me. Mom never cooked that particular soup again.
@kiityc@catherineroyuk then the system generates an electroninc booking document that is emailed authomatically to the GP. So once we take history, I am sure the GP would know as well. On the other hand, when I was pregnant last time, I asked GP receptionist what to do and the GP frankly did not care?
@kiityc@catherineroyuk when I worked in community it was a little different: women self-booked (even I self-booked pregnancy 12 years ago). Then actual booking with the midwife/hospital happens at 8 ish weeks - aiming before 10 weeks for sure. The midwife takes history and refers to scans etc.
