pi-subagents lets Pi delegate work to focused child agents like scout, planner, worker, and reviewer. but a few of its features only turn on if you install the matching companion package:

> direct MCP tool access needs pi-mcp-adapter
> a second allow/ask/deny permission layer comes from pi-permission-system
> parent-child messaging is native now, with pi-intercom kept as an optional fallback

it's less a single tool and more a stack, install only the pieces your setup actually needs.
