@MmeLockhartLDSB @DTWillingham If I am reading this right, this was published winter 2006/07. Any recommendations on updated data about strategy use and effectiveness?
The resistance to change is great, especially when the well intentioned insist they are right. It’s the cost to the children that is unacceptable.
Proud of my children’s district for making the move to teach teachers and to use UFLI instead of TC.

🙏I'm grateful to have been invited to offer my perspective on some questions going around about early literacy research & practice. In case you're interested, link to podcast here: https://t.co/5rPyQyzVCZ The pub I ref'd about cueing & prompting is here: https://t.co/LMRhnAJMEM
Teachers who award “promptness points” for assignments are not fooling anyone with their points off for work that’s late. It’s a shame grades don’t report the actual knowledge of students.
A new study confirms that reading comprehension strategies work best if combined with background knowledge.
And: the effect of 55 hours of instruction is the same as 1 hour. Kids get WAY more than 55 hrs in school. @DTWillingham

@missypurcell1 @theOGlibrarian So true! 20 weeks my son will never get back. Love that he was identified early, end of K/start of 1st, but hate that it took till the end of 3rd to get OG/multi sensory reading- which is what he needs.
