I have lived my life maneuvering in two worlds, what about you? Can you go a day or week without seeing someone who’s black or someone who is different than you?
My daughter is starting a new school where she will probably be the only black student. I do consider the school diverse! She told me that a young girl walked by and smiled. She said “I want her to be my friend.” A simple smile can go a long way. Acts of kindness even further.
@rebeccachilali I hope you noticed who or who wasn’t included on my list. This makes a big difference when teams lack diversity. We often admire those who are similar to us and this can impact who’s invited to participate.

We all have implicit bias. There are many ways to debias oneself. Take time to see those who are different in a positive way. We are impacted by stereotypes we receive from the media, our family, etc...(constantly). Embrace the positivity!
We all have rich traditions and beliefs (they may be old or even new) but they make us who we are. Saying, “I’m Color blind” ignores this richness. Embrace the color and the uniqueness every one possesses even if you don’t understand or agree.
