Thanks for trying to store my address, Chrome, but what I really want is a "profile" that knows about my children's dentist's street address and fax number, because no power on Earth can get me to store this so I'm not looking it up EVERY TIME.
@ben_golub I asked my rising 8th grader, who will be affected by this. He says that if you allowing group by test scores etc. in middle school, everyone can SEE the problem. If you keep everyone in one class and lower the ceiling, it's easier to pretend it's not there.
@heatherlkos the baby in (c) is going to be the HAPPIEST TODDLER IN THE WORLD to wake up and learn there is a second picture of her in that wrap. you're welcome for this very scientific contribution.
Thank you to anyone who heard me with my 5yo at CVS today and didn't say anything. 'Oh wow they DO have chocolate bunnies! Those look so good! I'm sorry, I think those are only for Easter though and we're not allowed to buy one yet..."
On the bright side, our diabetic kiddo bakes some pretty tasty treats. "Sorry Mom, I made these raspberry shortbread bars when I was low... but it's only a half recipe!"
@taylorsschumann To be fair, if it had a "scientific name" that name would probably start with a man's last name. Maybe Montgomery could have a sign as well as some tubercles.
@E_Bonawitz At least when that happens, you can sort of help reframe it for the kid - privately. When EXACTLY ONE family shows up, you've got a really intense playdate.
@AshleyJ_Thomas My high school had a lab preschool where we could get credit for helping with the kids & learning about child development. I ran a little experiment about whether there was a connection between Piagetian conservation & ability to imitate rhythms (why, I don't know).
@MikellTaylor "Not FDA approved" is such a frustrating type of concern when the approved alternative is what... a sleeping adult in another room who might wake up if the seizure is loud enough?
Ordered 8 identical containers of glucose tablets from Target for free shipping. Little did I know they'll throw in an illustration of the pigeonhole principle too!
#LongCovid prevalence with BA.5 variant is 21% (no difference whether vax, boosted or not)
This prevalence corroborates all major studies from @CDCgov, @uscensusbureau, @federalreserve & @ONS
This is an inescapable problem β & is profoundly irresponsible & immoral to ignore.
* Almost 20% of polled attendees got COVID-19 (pos test), >20% if you also count people with COVID symptoms but either didn't test at all or got a negative test.
* If 20% is representative of all attendees, then we estimate that 2000 or more people caught COVID at SIGGRAPH.

@flippper1@FionaMartin123@Dr_DianeJohnson I actually do have to answer no - then dive into an explanation of what's going on and why no, I am not confused. And even I would be concerned if a doctor weren't surprised! (Type 1 can take a long time to progress in adulthood esp. if detected early, e.g. via TrialNet.)
We were considering packing lunch for our elementary schooler, but upon seeing the menu there's no way we'll provide as much healthy variety as the school kitchen will.
So not only is school lunch free this year, but since we last tried it, CPSD has moved to offering a vegetarian option (besides PB&J or cheese sandwich) nearly every day! Thank you @CPSD_Nutrition
