On this day back in ‘87, Uncle Sam officially made Special Forces aka “green berets” a branch of the U.S. Army.
These badass warriors handle missions nobody else can, dropping freedom and kicking ass worldwide. Cheers to the quiet pros keepin’ it loud in enemy territory since day one.
These dudes started way back in ‘52 as elite guerrilla warfare masters, before long they were rollin’ deep in Vietnam’s jungles, cold-war hotspots, and desert storms. Whether it’s training allies, unconventional warfare, or sneaking behind enemy lines, SF always show up ready to liberate the oppressed.
And they’re still crushing it today—hunting terrorists, training local fighters, and mastering languages and cultures around the globe. Bottom line: these guys don’t just fight wars, they shape history. So raise your glass to the baddest dudes in the biz, the U.S. Army Special Forces.
Stay caffeinated 🇺🇸
@insp_tv The first part of the article has an inaccuracy. The opening scene with the running horse wasn't in 1955 it was later in the series, when the show was in color. If my memory serves, possibly season 15.

On this day, 14 years ago, “The enemy initiated a daylight attack with hand grenades, one of which landed inside their sandbagged position. Without hesitation and with complete disregard for his own safety, Lance Cpl. Kyle Carpenter toward the grenade in an attempt to shield his fellow Marine from the deadly blast. When the grenade detonated, his body absorbed the brunt of the blast, severely wounding him, but saving the life of his fellow Marine.”
Almost four years later, he received the Medal of Honor for his heroic actions that day. Kyle, you are inspiring to all of us.
