Conclusion:

Today's meeting in the White House was the second-best outcome. The meeting between Trump, Vance, and Zelenskyy couldn't have gone better. The world now knows exactly where the United States stands without subtlety, subtext, or guessing.

The Trump Administration has yanked the free world around since winning elections in November.

There was never a realistic and equitable deal, and the masks are off for the entire world to see.

After Macron on Wednesday and Starmer on Thursday tip-toed around Trump, they got to see exactly who they are dealing with.

The age of American exceptionalism, the "shining city on the hill," is over. As an American, I'm embarrassed, sad, and angry. As a human, I'm relieved that the administration has revealed itself.

It's time for Europe to step up and prepare for a post-NATO and post-USA world. The masks are off.

For almost three years, I have had the privilege of working with some of the smartest people I have ever known. Thank you for your analysis, your listening, your teaching, the all-nighters, the screaming matches, the laughter, and the tears.
