After decades in both laboratory and clinical science, here’s the practical truth:
In the lab, I can create 100,000 mice with any rare genetic disease in months, run any invasive procedure, and generate massive placebo groups with p-values that have ten zeros in front.
In the clinic? We’re dealing with real people.
Rare diseases often have far too few patients for traditional large trials. Many don’t want to risk a placebo arm when a promising therapy is on the table. Ethics make perfect mouse-style controls impossible.
That’s why we must be realistic and reasonable when designing and interpreting clinical studies.
Patients aren’t mice. They deserve science that meets them where they are — so they can have a real fighting chance. ❤️
@destructo9000 Recent same experience. Despite years of online interaction only, had to call to cancel, then listen to the clerk try to sell us more insurance. The policy was supposed to just expire. instead the company transferred it into a plan costing 3x "for our convenience". Total BS.
@20thcenturymarc Probably not so much if you are in chronic pain, hooked on machines and drugs and dying and, yet, medicine insists on keeping you "alive" in the hospital as long as possible.
@delta@klm To be clear. Claim with delta was filed day of incident exactly as the Delta rep told me to. Delta sat on it until the 7 days were up and then told me I had to file with KLM. Then KLM told me the 7 days had passed and it was too late. So, collusion!
Hey @Delta and @KLM- hundreds worth of goods stolen from my luggage en route from ATL to Amsterdam. Delta blames KLM and KLM won't review my claim bc I submitted it more than 7 days post-incident because I was on vacation! How can I appeal this anti-customer policy?
@karpedmcatlady @Delta@Schiphol@KLM@Apple I bet they removed the tag when they stole the luggage. That's what happen to me, last month. My tag was super hidden, so I think they had a detector. BTW... after 7 days you can't file a stolen luggage report. So they just have to keep you waiting 7 days.
