Kevin Briggs is a former California highway patrol officer who has stopped more than 200 people from committing suicide on the Golden Gate Bridge.
When Briggs finds a suicidal individual, he usually starts a conversation with them by asking how they are doing, then asking their plans for the following day.
If they did not have plans for the next day, he attempts to make plans with them, inviting them to come back to the bridge if their plan did not work out at the end of the day.
The image below is from 2005 when Briggs spent 60 minutes convincing Kevin Berthia to climb back over a rail on the bridge. Berthia went on to marry and have multiple children.
Briggs has earned the nickname ‘Guardian of the Golden Gate’ for having saved the lives of over 200 people.
As the 2 year old sales begin next week the @RepoleStable team and I have decided we will not participate in any 2 year old training sales until changes are made.
I have purchased at these sales throughout the years with successful horses like Stay Thirsty, Stopchargingmaria, Unlimited Budget, Chocolate Gelato, etc.
Over the years as the breed becomes less durable these horses are pushed harder than ever to run under 10 seconds before their official 2nd birthday.
This makes no sense!!!!!
@OBSSales, @FasigTiptonCo, @hisa _us need to step up with new regulations, improve drug testing and better ways to protect the horses.
The way these 2 year olds train and breeze for these sales is incomprehensible.
After 40 years of having horses in the care of Rusty Arnold, I can say that his commitment to running a clean barn is diligent and absolute. His statement speaks to some of the issues and complications our industry is facing and shows how we must adapt and improve.
An athlete commits themself 24/7 to be at the top of his/her game - not only are they hard on themselves but they have many to please - when the person who should come first is themself.
That bell is awesome , more tracks should have one in the winners circle - it gives the TRAINER JOCKEY & OWNER a chance to show their support for aftercare programs
Kevin Go Go Go Gomez @itz_lil_g one of the most improved riders in the sport, had outstanding Delaware meet, has followed that success up at @TampaBayDownsFL and always rings the Bell after he wins to make a Donation to Thoroughbred Aftercare ✊ @MasonnumberMark 📞 @jockeysguild

Completely agree.
Barbara Livingston has made immeasurable contributions to racing for decades. She doesn’t do it for recognition, but for the love of the game, its horses and people. She deserves recognition for those contributions.
