@AdamsEmilylynn That is a great point! Maybe set aside a specified time to engage in gamification. This may help your students understand that not every day they will have a chance to play a game. It's great to hear they are enjoying the games though! #wuedt6020
@ldlred4 Differentiation can definitely be difficult and time consuming. Our district uses a program called Raz Kids. I found this helpful as a reading resource. Each student has a profile that matches their reading level and comprehension. #wuedt6020
@adams_eliz90163 I can relate! I often use gamification as a way to ensure the students are working independently. It can be difficult to use gamification as a way to drive instruction in K. This course has made me question how I can do a better job. Thanks for sharing! #wuedt6020
@AlexisWilmu6020 This is a great question! I really had to think about my answer. I fear that it doesn’t help students build social skills which can cause detachment. There definitely needs to be a balance when using technology in the classroom. Curious what your thoughts are. #wuedt6020
@adams_eliz90163 Scratch is an awesome resource to promote gamification! It is a platform for coding. This site allows students to explore premade games as well as create their own. This could be a good resource for a group project to promote collaboration and gamification. #wuedt6020
@B_Farrell9@KFranklin923 Beth, my class also uses virtual field trips. I typically use YouTube. Is there a resource other than that that you recommend? #wuedt6020
@AlexisWilmu6020 @KFranklin923 Alexis, I agree that social media can build a sense of community. Especially for families with children that have specials needs and cannot communicate what occurs in school. It allows families to feel connected to their child and the community. #wuedt6020
@KFranklin923 Through social media, students can collaborate and engage with other students their age from around the world. My students watch videos from YouTube to take virtual “field trips” and learn about different parts of the world and their cultures. #wuedt6020
@KviiilynM@KFranklin923 Hi Kaitlyn,
Since you mentioned you are a gamer yourself, you might enjoy the “Scratch” website. I used this in a previous course and it was a great resource for coding. You and your students may find this useful. #wuedt6020
@B_Farrell9@KFranklin923 Way to go! I’m sure implementing VR was a new challenge for you. That’s great that you took it on for your students. I’m sure they loved it! #wuedt6020
@KFranklin923 Based on this week’s readings, I discovered the “The Social Express”. This app is intended to boost social-awareness skills. This would benefit my class of Kindergartners. Looking forward to learning more about it. #wuedt6020
