A 33-year-old man allegedly lured a 24-year-old woman with promises of money on Facebook and arranged to meet her.

The two met in Mthatha and boarded a taxi together to Tsolo. After getting off, they walked on foot towards the man’s home in the Mbuto area.

While walking through a wooded area, the man allegedly pulled out a knife, threatened the woman, and raped her in the forest.

After the attack, while the suspect was still nearby, the woman managed to send a WhatsApp message with her live location to her family, alerting them to what had happened.

Police responded swiftly and found both of them still at the scene. When officers attempted to arrest the suspect, he allegedly pulled out the knife and attacked the police. Officers shot him dead.
