Today, Minister @PBethlenfalvy and I were pleased to release the 2025-26 Public Accounts that show we invested $10B more than the previous fiscal year in healthcare, education, infrastructure and other core services Ontarians depend on.

I can’t thank the incredible firefighting personnel in northern Ontario enough for their heroic work protecting people and communities impacted by the wildfires.

We’re making every resource available to support their efforts and keep people safe. Since 2018, we’ve invested $1.5 billion to fight wildfires and hire more personnel, with another $650 million to expand Ontario’s fleet of firefighting aircraft.

MPP Kinga Surma is misleading you about my work to fight crime and is trying to deflect and evade responsibility for provincial government inaction.

This level of misinformation and defamation from an elected official in Etobicoke Centre is unprecedented and can not go unchallenged.

Stopping crime has been one of my top priorities. I have been working with federal, provincial and municipal government leaders to do just that. At the federal level I have been pushing for longer sentences, stricter bail laws, and additional funding for police. I have also met with many of you on this matter in person, on the phone, or in a town hall setting. I have even spoken with Premier Ford about this.

Your party *is* the governing party. Either you haven't been pushing for "longer sentences, stricter bail laws" or you aren't very good at it. Either way, it's a failure.

"No matter what the federal government does to strengthen bail laws and the criminal code, if the province does not...."

The mental gymnastic required to make that statement should win you a gold.

The feds need to strengthen bail laws and the criminal code. Not doing your job because others might not do theirs is a pathetic excuse.

@Yvan_baker, the Liberal MP from Etobicoke Centre, gets the facts wrong.  For 6 years in Ottawa, he is missing in action when it comes to the safety of our province. The revolving door of violent criminals out on bail, and illegal crime guns coming across the border, are a direct result of failed policies he supported.

Ontarians know that when it comes to fighting crime, having the backs of everyone that dons a uniform, and fighting hard for #bailreform, it is our government that meets the moment. That’s the difference.
