How can you NOT believe in God when octopuses dream and otters have a favorite rock they carry around in a little skin pocket and cows have best friends and bees are out there communicating the coordinates of flowers through dancing and they have regional dialects?

Monarch butterflies are born knowing how to fly thousands of miles to a place they have never been.

Sea turtles hatch out of an egg, immediately sprint toward an ocean that they have never seen, disappear into it for like 3 decades and then somehow come back to the same beach they hatched on.

Birds can see colors that we humans can’t see. There are colors out there right now that we don’t even get to know about.

There are sea slugs that eat algae and use the chloroplast/chlorophyll and then are just like…photosynthesizing. And they’re super adorable.

There are mushrooms communicating underground. There are seeds sitting in the dirt for decades like “no actually I will wait. It’s fine.”

Squirrels plant trees because they forget where they put their snacks. Relatable.

A CATERPILLAR GOES INTO A LITTLE BAG THAT IT CREATES ITSELF AND DISSOLVES MOST OF ITS BODY INTO ORGANIC GOO AND REARRANGES ITSELF, GROWS WINGS AND THEN LEAVES. WHY IS THIS NOT MORE BEAUTIFULLY TERRIFYING TO PEOPLE??

You mean outside the thousands of eyewitnesses who spoke and interacted with HIM after HE was crucified? You mean, outside the fact that NO ONE refuted these eyewitness accounts? Works for me. I'm good with eyewitness accounts from a "book" that has never been disproven regarding historical or geographical locations and events. A book that, for centuries, was thought to have fabricated stories about kings and cities, only to see those actual kings and cities revealed in archaeological discoveries centuries later. Pliny the Elder, Josephus? And there were more, documented Christ OUTSIDE the Bible. Not only that, but they had EVERY REASON to NOT confirm HIS existence, and not only could not, but DID NOT. That works for me. You have issues with the Resurrection? With HIS miracles (also mentioned outside the Bible), you should. I am MORE than ok with HIM doing things I cannot comprehend. He was God in the flesh; I am not supposed to understand it all. Look up the word hubris; it's one of the things that has done us in as a species.

Christian singer Matthew West shared a powerful story about taking his daughter to camp. During an exercise, the daughters were blindfolded and the dads were told to guide them through the woods after repeating three instructions: I will never leave you. You can ask me anything. And only listen for my voice.

At first, he could guide her easily. Then the counselors signaled for him to remove his hand. He was no longer allowed to speak unless his daughter remembered she could ask him anything. Eventually, they got off track on their hike and a counselor quietly led her into a ditch without her realizing it.

After standing there blindfolded and confused, she finally asked, “Dad, are you there?”

Matthew said he teared up as he answered, “Yeah. I’m here.”

This moment reminded him how often we forget the same truths about God: that He never leaves us, we can ask Him anything, and we need to listen for His voice.
