Governor Oyebanji Inspects Key Projects to Ensure Quality Delivery

Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the timely and high-quality execution of critical infrastructure projects across Ekiti State.

Yesterday, Governor Oyebanji conducted an on-the-spot assessment of three major projects in Ado-Ekiti:

✅ The Central Business District (CBD) at Atikankan
✅ The International Centre for Art and Culture
✅ The Revenue House (EKIRS Headquarters)

Recognising the importance of firsthand inspection, Governor Oyebanji emphasised that while regular monitoring by relevant agencies is crucial, direct engagement provides a clearer evaluation of progress and ensures adherence to quality standards.

Expressing satisfaction with the level of work done so far, he reiterated his administration’s commitment to ensuring that every project meets the highest standards and contributes to the long-term economic and infrastructural development of Ekiti State.

As a government, we remain focused on delivering impactful projects that enhance business growth, promote cultural heritage, and strengthen revenue generation, ultimately fostering sustainable development across the state.

Ekiti State Government has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000, effective December 1, 2024.

This was done via a Memorandum of Understanding that ensures the minimum wage covers all strata of workers and pensioners. The approval of the new minimum wage follows the signing of the Wage Negotiation Committee's report by the State Government and organized labour leaders.

Representing the State Government, the Head of Service, Dr Folakemi Olomojobi signed the MoU and thanked Ekiti workers for their patience and trust in the government's commitment to finding a mutually beneficial solution.

The Ekiti State Governor, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has urged the citizens of the state not to despair over Monday’s kidnapping of some school pupils and their teachers in Emure- Ekiti, assuring that efforts are on to get the children and their teachers rescued.

Six pupils of a private school in Emure-Ekiti, three teachers and the bus driver were abducted while returning to Eporo- Ekiti, Monday evening.

The Governor, who described the kidnapping of the school pupils, as callous and unacceptable, said nothing would be spared in the efforts to rescue them.

According to a statement by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, security agencies in the state are already on the trail of the abductors with a mandate to bring the pupils and their teachers back safely.

Governor Oyebanji said security is being stepped up across the state with a view to flushing out criminal elements from their hideouts.

While calling on the citizens to remain calm and vigilant, he urged them to cooperate with security agencies, by making available relevant information to the authorities.

Not-so-bold claim: Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo will NEVER be able to revolutionise Nigeria’s messily-corrupt passport application system. Zero percent chance!

You know why already: his hands are not clean.

Anyone who thinks Tuni-Ojo can, underestimates the depth and spread of Nigeria’s passport fleecing network. It is a wire that begins in Nigeria and extends to many of our overseas missions.

I can say this now because I have since abandoned the story and moved on to other things; but before I became quite positively distracted by Arrows of God, I was tracking that passport story, the local-foreign connection (Someday in the very distant future, I will write a book on the stories I started investigating but abandoned.).

In the preliminary phase of that now-abandoned investigation, I was stunned to discover that very highly placed presidential appointees had internally attempted to snatch the passport application process from the grip of exploitative Immigration staff, but it never worked. It doesn’t mean it never will, but don’t trivialise the scale, power, reach or entrenchment of the interests frustrating Olubunmi-Ojo and his direct and indirect predecessors.

First quality of the person to unshackle Nigerians from greedy Immigration officials and their accomplices: clean hands. And Tunji-Ojo’s hands are not.

Tunji-Ojo’s company cannot be receiving N438m from Betta Edu’s humanitarian affairs ministry (let’s not mention the honourable-member-off-your-mic saga), and he thinks he can deny Immigration officials their daily 50k or 100k. Zero chance.

So, I’ll say this again: a million websites and automated systems will not eliminate corner-cutting Immigration officials; they will continue bypassing the system, and they will be able to justify it.

Dora Akunyili did not fight the fake drug mafia with stained hands herself; Akunyili was as incorruptible as they come. In fact, when former president Olusegun Obasanjo was scouting for a NAFDAC DG, Akunyili’s track record of incorruptibility was the decider.

The sanitiser of Immigration passport fraud has not yet been found; it must be someone of verifiable incorruptibility.

He who comes to equity must….
