Key Resolutions Passed During SGPC Budget Session
▪️Protection of Sikh Identity:
Strong concern was expressed over attempts to dilute the distinct and independent identity of Sikhs.

▪️ A global appeal was made to Sikh institutions, scholars, and the community to unite and resist such efforts.

▪️Religious Sacrilege & Punjab Govt Bill 2025: SGPC criticized the Punjab government’s approach to the proposed “Prevention of Offences Against Holy Scriptures Bill 2025,” stating it has created confusion.

▪️It also raised serious concern over rising sacrilege incidents and lack of strict action against culprits.

▪️No Amendment to 2008 Act:
The committee opposed any changes to the “Sri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Act 2008,” warning against interference.

▪️Release of Sikh Prisoners:
Condemned the delay by central and state governments in releasing long-term Sikh prisoners.
Urged immediate decision on mercy petition of Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana and release of other detainees.

▪️Discrimination in Bhullar Case:
Criticized both past and present Delhi governments for alleged bias in Bhai Devinderpal Singh Bhullar’s case.

▪️Misuse of AI Technology: Raised concern over misuse of AI to hurt Sikh sentiments and urged the Centre to frame strict policies and ensure swift action.

▪️Sikh Students & Articles of Faith: Objected to incidents where Sikh students are forced to remove religious symbols (Kakars) during exams. Demanded strict action against such practices.

▪️Police Encounters in Punjab:
Expressed concern over rising police encounters involving youth, calling for transparency and fair investigations.

▪️Kartarpur Sahib Corridor:
Urged India and Pakistan to immediately reopen the Kartarpur Sahib corridor, citing religious sentiments of Sikhs.

▪️Issues of Sikhs Abroad: Asked the Government of India to take effective diplomatic steps to protect rights of Sikhs overseas and prevent racial discrimination.

▪️Miri Piri Medical College Issue:
Condemned attempts to forcibly (take over) Miri Piri Medical College, Shahbad Markanda.

▪️Condolence Resolutions:Paid tribute to several prominent Sikh personalities who recently passed away.
