The President’s Award-Kenya continues to make bold strategic moves to build partnerships that empower young people and champion environmental conservation.
Today, our team, led by Deputy Director for Special Projects and Partnerships, Mr. Simon Kanyingi, paid a courtesy call to @KEFRIHQ CEO/ Director Dr. Jane Njuguna at the KEFRI Headquarters.
The meeting focused on exploring long-term collaboration in tree planting initiatives, with emphasis on identifying and promoting indigenous and exotic tree species, selecting suitable planting sites, and leveraging KEFRI’s technical expertise to establish and sustain quality tree cover.
Together, we discussed opportunities to integrate tree-growing components into the Award Programme across the country, empowering young people to take the lead in climate action, biodiversity conservation, and supporting Kenya’s 15 Billion Tree Coverage Campaign.
We believe in growing more than trees. We are growing a generation that protects them.

The second day of the Western Region Tour was marked by strategic engagements aimed at strengthening the presence and impact of the President’s Award – Kenya (PA-K) across key institutions in the region.
The day kicked off at Sacred Heart Girls’ School, Mukumu, where the team held a consultative meeting with the Award Leaders. The discussions focused on revitalizing the Programme within the school and exploring ways to increase enrolment and participation.
The next stop was Shikusa Borstal Institution, where the team was received by the Superintendent in charge. The visit underscored PA-K’s continued commitment to supporting the rehabilitation and reintegration of young people through the Award framework, which offers structure, hope, and personal development opportunities.
At Butula Boys High School, the team met with the Principal and Award Leaders to advocate for the expansion of the Programme. The school leadership expressed readiness to support the Award’s implementation and reach more students.
The day concluded at St. Cecilia Girls’ High School, Nangina, where the team engaged with the Principal, Award Leader, and current Award participants. The session provided an opportunity to affirm the impact of the Programme on the girls' personal growth and leadership development, while encouraging sustained participation and support.
Across all institutions visited, the message was clear: to reinforce institutional support, increase awareness, and scale up the reach and impact of the Award Programme among young people in the Western Region.
The tour continues tomorrow at Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology, where the team will participate in the Kakamega Youth Dialogue, further engaging young people in meaningful conversations around empowerment, leadership, and active citizenship.

While delivering the Cabinet Secretary’s message during the IYD Weekend Academy Season 8 Graduation, the Principal Secretary @SDY_Ke Mr @fikirini_jacobs , delivered a passionate and timely reminder to the over 12,000 graduands:
“This is not the end, it is a launching pad to greater responsibility and leadership.”
He commended the International Youth Fellowship (IYF) for its commitment to mindset transformation and practical skill-building, noting the strong alignment with national youth development efforts.
Recognising that young people are not just leaders of tomorrow, but leaders of today, the PS emphasised their role as key catalysts for national transformation whose energy, innovation, and urgency must be nurtured.
He further encouraged the graduates to embrace the many opportunities available through national youth-focused programmes, including:
🔹 The President’s Award – Kenya, which builds character, leadership, and service
🔹 Youth Enterprise Development Fund, which supports youth-led businesses and innovation
🔹 National Youth Council Kenya, which champions youth voice and participation
🔹 Kenya Film Commission, which empowers talent in the creative and digital space
He proudly acknowledged IYF’s global impact, celebrating the fact that after last year’s representation in Korea, another group of Kenyan youth is set to travel to Seoul, South Korea to fly the flag high once again.
His parting call to the graduands was clear and powerful:
“You are the torchbearers of this generation. Serve with humility, lead with integrity, and be the change our nation needs.”

Earlier today, I joined my Principal Secretary, Mr. Fikirini Jacobs @fikirini_jacobs, and Rev. Yohan Kim, Chairman of the International Youth Foundation @IYF, to affirm our shared commitment to the empowerment of young people across Kenya.
At @presidentsaward, we focus on building character; IYF builds mindset — together, we are nurturing holistic youth development. I was proud to highlight the four sections of the Award Programme, especially the #Skills section, which strongly aligns with IYF’s approach.
I’m excited to share that PA-K and IYF recently signed a partnership agreement, solidifying our shared mission to reach even more young people across the country.
I also had the great pleasure of congratulating the over 12,000 graduands and encouraged them to embrace further growth opportunities through The Award. Your journey is just beginning — keep striving, keep growing.
