Successfully hosted the National Workshop on “AI for Agriculture: Data-Driven Digital Innovations for Transforming Agrifood Systems” at Lam, Guntur, organized by Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University (@angrau_ap) and co-organized by @ICRISAT through the CGIAR Digital Transformation Accelerator (@CGIAR_Data).

The workshop was held under the leadership of Dr P V Satyanarayana, Vice-Chancellor, ANGRAU, and was actively facilitated by Dr A Mani, Registrar, ANGRAU, whose guidance and coordination brought together diverse stakeholders for this national-level dialogue on AI in agriculture.

The workshop was further enriched by the guidance of Shri Budithi Rajsekhar, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to Government, Agriculture & Cooperation Department, Government of Andhra Pradesh, who emphasized the need for safe, responsible, and human-centred AI grounded in reliable data, domain expertise, and strong institutional systems for agricultural transformation.

ICRISAT was represented by Dr G Kishore Kumar (@kishorekumar24) and Dr N Nagarjuna Reddy as Co-Organising Secretaries, contributing to the workshop design, technical sessions, demonstrations, and panel discussions.

A key highlight was the panel discussion on “Scaling AI in Agriculture: Partnerships, Policies and Pathways for Field-Level Impact,” moderated by Dr G Kishore Kumar, ICRISAT. The panel featured Dr V M Chowdary, NRSC–ISRO; Dr Venkata Radha, ICRISAT; Dr Venu Madhav Margam, MSSRF; and representatives from Garuda Analytics (@garudalytics), bringing perspectives from space technology, spatial science, inclusive agrifood systems, and industry.

The workshop concluded with insightful discussions led by Dr Shaik N Meera and Rabi N Sahoo on responsible AI, digital public infrastructure, field validation, and future ANGRAU–ICRISAT collaboration to advance data-driven and climate-resilient agriculture.

ICRISAT participated in the “Integrated Utilization of Long-term Farm Household Panel Data in Asia and Africa” workshop, organized by Kyoto University, Japan, from 6–8 December 2025.

The workshop brought together CGIAR partners and representatives from participating countries to strengthen a community of practice on panel data and advance cross-country research. Dr Shalander Kumar (@kumar_shalander), Principal Scientist, ICRISAT, showcased ICRISAT’s VLS–VDSA high-frequency farm household dataset, highlighting its value for development economics, designing targeted agricultural technologies, and informing policies that support transformative agricultural systems.

ICRISAT convened a high-level review meeting today at the #Bihar Centre of Excellence for Millets Value Chain (BCoEMVC), #Mayapur, #Gaya.

The visiting team comprised Dr Stanford Blade, Deputy Director General; Dr Rebbie Harawa, Global Research Program Director – RFFS; Dr Kuldeep Singh, Head of Genebank; and Dr Ramesh Singh, Cluster Head – IDC; and other key scientists from ICRISAT. They were joined by Dr Ismaeil, Deputy Director (Agriculture), Government of Bihar.

Together, they reviewed ongoing research activities, assessed campus infrastructure, visited field sites, engaged with field staff, and discussed future development plans for the Centre.
