I genuinely have no qualms with you criticizing Will and defending Mike. But at least in the scene we’ve discussed, try to comprehend the context and implications behind it.
…Okay, this will be my last tweet engaging with you, respectfully. You’re conflating explanation, justification, and absolution as the same thing. Mike not knowing Will was gay is fine, I accept that. But you’re justifying and absolving him of what he said.
He wasn't using that aspect as in "You don't like girls literally", he just meant he wasn't matured yet at that stage. Comparing what Troy meant when he made actual homophobic remarks to what Mike meant when he said something that's not even inherently homophobic are different.
And regardless of Will receiving worse beforehand, it still does not make it okay for his best friend to use something he’s already insecure/bullied about 😬 This is what I’ve been trying to point out throughout our exchange.
We’ve established that Mike himself wasn’t being intentionally homophobic, but you can’t seem to understand that his words show a willingness to exploit an already known vulnerability to cause hurt. And hey, if that’s the hill you want to die on, I simply won’t stop you 🤷 G-bye
The point you’ve continued to miss time & time again is that regardless of Mike “knowing” or “not knowing” is that it was still unfair of him to use an aspect of his friend that he was already being made fun of and bullied.
You're the only one being obtuse along with everyone else who says this. He wasn't even thinking about what people said to Will in the past because that's not why HE was saying it, which is why it's not homophobic. It's not that hard to understand.
the reason why (even if he wasn’t being intentionally homophobic) using a sore spot as ammunition, isn’t okay, you still refuse to understand. At this point, let us just agree to disagree because I feel like you’re acting dense/obtuse intentionally.
You literally said that what Will said will never be justified and in the same breath make excuses about a character who was willing to use a deeply personal aspect of a person’s identity to hurt them in the moment. At this point, with already so many people explaining to you
I literally never mention Will calling El stupid ever. I only bring it up when his stans want to say he's perfect and has never done anything wrong. Otherwise I literally never talk about it. But apparently I don't give grace to will.
you’re giving Mike grace for his disingenuous comments but you’re not giving will the same. that’s just not being objective. I can agree that what Will said was bad with knowing the context behind it. But it’s quite clear that you can’t hold Mike to the same standard 🤷
Mike isn’t inherently homophobic, but we’re not about to excuse him weaponizing a vulnerable part of someone’s identity knowing said person is getting called slurs? Another tweet already said what’s wrong with your argument 🤷
Mike didn't say anything homophobic so no it isn't the same. It wasn't said with malicious intent because Mike didn't even know he was gay. I never said what Will did was unforgivable. The only reason it got brought up is because his stans said he was perfect.
when its mike’s homophonic words it’s okay because he didn’t say it with malicious intent meanwhile will being left out & calling someone stupid is unforgivable and isn’t afforded the same grace #okay
@DuncanBrola Because not every situation is the same? You guys have this tit for tat thing because you want to protect Will so much that every single situation is the same. Mike said what he said because he was defending his girlfriend, Will said what he said because he was mad.
me when i watch a show with an impure mind & spirit, ignoring a character’s canon traits and whole
arc on get on https://t.co/iHLPbvTRd0 to say some nonsense bullshit while simultaneously not holding my fav to the same standard as the characters i hate
no one said that will was responsible we just said hes a shit friend/brother and spineless cause the only member of the party maybe even character on the show that would have let that bullying shit slide and never speak up once
