Ava Jones of Nickerson and Taryn Sides of Phillipsburg meet up at tonight’s Kansas State vs Iowa women’s 🏀game. Awesome to see our two Sports in Kansas 2022 3A-Co POYs & top five all class selections represent small schools in Kansas on a national stage👏. Young athletes all across Kansas look up to these two. Sides repeated as 3A POY a senior in 2023 while Jones was recovering from injuries and missed her HS senior campaign last school year. Two of the best girls basketball players we’ve ever covered. Immediate Impact Freshman: Taryn Sides of 3A Phillipsburg was a two time Sports in Kansas Player of the Year in 3A as well as 2x Top 5 all-classes. Tonight as a true freshman for Kansas State 🏀she scored eight points, six rebounds, three assists in the 65-58 win over national power Iowa and Caitlin Clark on the road. Incredible. And an awesome young lady as well that we’ve had the privilege of covering for four years of HS . Pictured last March at our 2023 SIK all-state event. #sportsinkansas
