our new genome paper on the (weird) tuliptree scale is now out in g3! i've never worked on an insect with an alternative sex determ. system before my time in the Mongue lab, but needless 2 say... i will always be impressed and horrified of what bugs can do https://t.co/nBTHNwS4Jv

WATCH: UF's bargaining team finally says they don't expect our minimum stipend to cover all of our living expenses, suggesting taking out loans and finding scholarships so that we can afford to work for them.
So so proud of my REU students for how hard they've worked this summer studying Arctic stonefly population genetics and how they may respond to warming temperatures! Thank you to @Toolik's TUNDRA Award for providing funding to collect Alaskan stoneflies used in this project! ✨
Congratulations to @ScottVEdwards1 on receiving the SSB Presidents' Award for Lifetime Achievement this morning!

A quick share of our new preprint on the phylogeny of caddisflies before I tune out for the holidays. I’ve worked on this off and on for the last decade so I’m excited for it to finally see the light of day as a preprint! https://t.co/JxjF8rwaVK
I just found out (through a desk-reject) that Molecular Phylogenetics and Evolution no longer considers most papers based on Sanger sequences (only genomic datasets). It is quite ironic that countries that hold most of the biodiversity will be unable to publish in this journal...
Tonight at #Hymathon2023 I'm defending the honor of Apoid wasps at the newly minted Hymenoptera Showdown! I know best is subjective, but we are talking Apoid wasps here...
Many thanks to the organizers! And to the amazing photos from iNat, only those with * are my own
