Non-adherence to medications is already a problem for a vast majority of the patients we see. With affordability being factored in, it becomes worrisome what could happen to the health of our patients without universal coverage of medications. #PHARM4420
In Canada, the government healthcare plan covers prescription drugs in hospitals. However, when getting prescriptions from a pharmacy there is NOT universal coverage. Why does our Country cover medications in an acute setting but not in a preventative setting? #Pharm4420
In a world with finite funding, we need to be mindful of where government funding is being directed. But surely, having patients pick and choose what medications they can afford each month is not the best we can do! #Pharm4420
Perhaps if Canada's "universal health coverage" included pharmacare, we could prevent patients from presenting to hospitals with conditions that can be prevented and treated in an outpatient setting. #Pharm4420
Exciting times for sure as we explore collaborative practice, expanded services, and pharmacist-led clinics! Hopefully more to come here in NL with the addition of UTIs and contraception 🤞 #Pharm4420
"As immunizers, as prescribers, and as the first point of contact to the health care system for patients across the country. It’s an exciting time to be a pharmacist." This is a great article discussing the evolving role of pharmacy! #Pharm4420

As we’re starting to see across Canada, pharmacist-led clinics allow pharmacists to practice to their full scope and provide patients with accessible health care. It would be great to see this in NL, so we can all work to improve healthcare in the province! #Pharm4420
