Seeing a worrying trend unfold in varsity baseball lately. Over the past month, I’ve witnessed an unsettling number of head coaches stepping down, not for typical personal reasons but due to excessive parental interference. Speaking to one of the departing coaches, he confided his preference to resign rather than surrender control of his program to overbearing parents. This raises a crucial question: What’s happened to the core principles of hard work and perseverance in sports? Are we so caught up in our own entitled ambitions that we’re willing to disrupt and potentially ruin these vital developmental experiences for others? It’s high time we take a step back and consider the lessons we’re teaching our young athletes. We must encourage them to embrace challenges and adversity, as these are the very experiences that shape resilient, capable adults. Life is not going to coddle them, and neither should we. Let’s restore integrity and independence to the game and let our coaches coach.

If there is not an emphasis on neutralizing crime then the future results will be the same as the previous results. This city has some great amenities, but has always been tagged as “crime ridden” and “unsafe.” Why not elect a mayor whose devotion is to fix that?
