A woman’s “Aarti” for rule-breakers in Pune

A video from the Pashan area of Pune is currently going viral on social media. After a major traffic jam, many two-wheeler riders chose to bypass the traffic by driving on the footpath. One local woman didn’t tolerate this violation. She walked behind the riders with folded hands and sarcastically said, “Come, let me perform your aarti,” mocking them for breaking the rules. Her unusual protest left some riders stunned, while others stopped their vehicles out of embarrassment. Using footpaths to escape traffic jams is nothing new for two- and four-wheeler drivers in Pune, but this woman’s sharp, sarcastic protest has once again brought the issue of traffic discipline into the spotlight.
