🚨🚨🚨TRUMP SHOOTING UPDATE:
The FBI confirms that the Republican who shot Trump used an AR-15.
The SAME gun more than 30 law enforcement officers were AFRAID to confront in Uvalde that left 19 children dead.
The SAME gun that’s been
the weapon of choice in many of the most horrific mass shootings in recent memory, including the Covenant school shooting in Nashville just two weeks ago.
The SAME gun brandished by Republican radicals like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Lauren Boebert.
The SAME gun worn as a pin on the lapels of disgusting GOP lawmakers.
This is what we need to scream everywhere:
If 30 armed officers wearing full tactical gear with ballistic shields are too afraid to confront a single gunman with an AR-15, they SHOULD NOT be in the hands of civilians.
We have the answer. It’s the guns.
BAN ASSAULT RIFLES NOW.
👥 Students who have #IEPs are not "special education students." They are simply students. They belong to every educator they have. Receiving a service shouldn't impose an identity. #LeadInclusion#EdLeaders#Teachers#UDL#TeacherTwitter
I graduated from a small town in Southern Iowa. Join me in advocating to Governor Reynolds and legislators that AEAs are needed for ALL kids in ALL schools. No changes needed! @KimReynoldsIA
Hold up - this straight from the consultant report @IAgovernor is using to justify her AEA dismantling bill. Looks to me like Iowa kids with disabilities start out with lower than average test scores in early grades, and make tremendous gains over other states by 8th grade!
GWAEA's induction coaches reduce new teacher turnover! 82% of beginning teachers who participated in this consortium remained in their roles for at least five years compared to a statewide average of 69%. Learn more:

There is no support for HSB 542. If there’s desire to improve AEA, then set a committee of parents, school bd members, teachers, superintendents, AEA staff, health care providers, community members, &legislators to study the system. Spend a year on it. No reason to rush. #ialegis
In the Senate Education Committee we have a presentation from @IAReading. They partner with Area Education Associations to implement with students, educators, and districts. Many of these services would be cut under the Governor’s proposal.🧵
A narrative being pushed about AEAs is that they lack oversight. They have local Boards and are accredited through the State. The “AEA Bill” moves the authority for supervision to an unelected state employee under the direct supervision of the… Governor. People see it, right?
In a culture that uses “hero” too casually, today it is reserved for Perry (Iowa) HS Principal Dan Marburger, who died of injuries sustained while protecting students/staff from a school shooter on Jan 4. My prayers are with the heavy hearts of Dan’s family, staff, & students.🙏
It is with deep sadness that we learn of the passing of Dan Marburger. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and the Perry community during this difficult time.
Interesting. As Iowa Dept of Education prepares to dismantle AEAs (under legislation not even out of committee) its own website shares how great the CURRENT AEA SYSTEM IS. https://t.co/2AjmPWGivv Should make advocating easier if the DE has publicly posted it for us.#ialegis
@RobSandIA No, at least from those that are actually doing the work. Unfortunately, there are current legislators that are in agreement. They need to be convinced otherwise. Thank you for your advocacy!
