@StrikeDebt@SecCardona @UnderSecKvaal + they still haven’t implemented the only student loan fix passed by Congress in 2022 signed into law 117-200 by @JoeBiden on 10/11/22. @FAFSA do your job - separate JCLs, and stop enabling domestic abuse.
@AGAndrewBailey Please hold lawless @usedgov to account & ask them why @FAFSA hasn’t released the application to separate joint spousal loans as required by JCLSA (law 117-200) passed by Congress 2 years ago! @HawleyMO@Eric_Schmitt@SC_DoUsPart
@FAFSA@SC_DoUsPart@usedgov@RepJoeNeguse@FAFSA Every day you wait to implement the law is another day thousands of JCL Borrowers loans accrue interest. Is the plan to make even more money off us than we’ve already paid by delaying implementation? Over 700 days and counting… accruing interest all this time.
@SecCardona So what abt the borrowers who had NO LAW & denied relief bc of not having a law, then they successfully lobbied Congress for a law (PUB LAW 117-200) BUT can't seem to convince you to enforce this law bc you are busy defending a prgrm from people who say you have to have a law!
@SecCardona Fix the most broken & ignored program that has led to ongoing economic abuse & is still happening at this very moment bc we wait on you to execute Public Law 117-200.
Please prioritize abuse victims who do not have a payment pause. We are literally begging you.
I have been the “co-maker” on a joint spousal consolidation loan. My ex spouse is the borrower. I make ALL the payments, but he gets to deduct the interest on his taxes. I don’t. This is financial abuse backed by the Dept of Education. @usedgov@SC_DoUsPart
Then, there are all the FFEL loans that the government lost track of. Add that to the pile, and it's even bigger. Still federally backed, but no relief for the borrowers trapped in these privately held, federally backed loans.
I've already paid $65k, which is $40k more than I borrowed. Gen X has been paying loans for 20+ years, Just wait till we all try to retire, but we couldn't save for retirement because we were busy paying off student loans.
I requested my full payment history w/ Master Promissory Note in preparation for implementation of law 117-200, from @MOHELA 4 times over the course of 3 months and it wasn't until my CFPB complaint that they magically found & delivered the missing records. @SC_DoUsPart
I am tied to my former spouses student loans even though our divorce was 18 years ago. The law was passed 2 years ago to allow me to separate my loan from his, and the Department of Education has not implemented the law. Rage? Anger? All of the above.
@SecCardona@SecCardona@SC_DoUsPart Doesn’t look like you have JCSL holders backs. Still waiting for PL 117-200 to go in effect. Waiting on separation 2 years later. How about an update?
I was a college student over 20 years ago, and I am still suffering the consequences of a broken student loan system. I am a JCL borrower who has paid $65k when I borrowed $24k. I still owe $50k. @SC_DoUsPart
Continuing to live under the burden of debt has lead many who are JCL borrowers to contemplate suicide as a way out of their student loans. It’s not just a mental health issue, it’s a student loan issue for us. @SC_DoUsPart@usedgov
The Supreme Court decide to lock borrowers in limbo, rather than second-guess the arch-conservative 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.
This is ludicrous.
