Today on #NWPproject, we're chatting plankton in the Arctic! In winter, the sea ice blocks the light from getting into the ocean, but when sea ice melts, light fuels production of ice algae that then feed the Arctic's unique animals! @NMNH @innerspacectr

A @NMNH visitor asks if climate change is bad in the Arctic and what has the #NWPproject seen? We were reminded that while it's cold right now, we need long term monitoring to see trends over decades. @innerspacectr

So far on the #NWPproject, the crew has seen a ton of Arctic life such as seals, walruses, birds, walruses, narwhals and polar bears! Fun fact: polar bears roll around on the ice to dry off after gong for a swim! @innerspacectr @NMNH

Day 2 of live broadcasts connecting @NMNH visitors to the #NWPproject via @innerspacectr. The biggest discovery so far, is seeing shearwaters (a type of seabird) which Inuit communities haven't seen in a while and the amount of knowledge that the Inuit have!
