In our case the only time the president comes to parliament is when official opening and no questions or accountability.
Hippo Valley Estates’ sugar exports grew 53% in Q3 2025 after the company produced “excess sugar above domestic demand” over the past two seasons.
🟢 Shipments went to the USA, Botswana, Rwanda, Burundi. The industry has also recently shipped 36,000 tonnes to the EU.
🟢 Sugar production was 221,017 tonnes, up just 1% from 2024. Industry-wide output totalled 443,501 tonnes.
🟢 Sales on the local market grew 10% to 306,402 tonnes. “Demand remained strong, supported by steady disposable incomes and the competitiveness of the Sunsweet brand.”
🔴 But raw sugar sales fell as some industrial customers switched to sweeteners to manage the impact of the sugar tax.
