So, President Yoweri Museveni recently mocked Ugandans (and by extension other Africans) who go to Dubai to work. He called it a desert, insufferably hot, and declared Ugandans who went there to work had an “inferiority complex”. There are grand political arguments one can make, but someone wisely suspected it had more to do with the pay, so we went looking for the dry differences in the salaries of some of the “lower jobs” Ugandans go to Dubai to work, and what they would have earned at home. Here's what we found in this table:
