Turns out July 29 is not a lucky day for special livery inaugurals… Exactly 10 years ago, I boarded the first flight of Air Do’s Bear Do Hokkaido Jet just to taxi out and return to the gate due to a technical issue before getting on a substitute aircraft instead.
The latest Pokemon Jet’s inaugural flight didn’t go as planned, with the aircraft having flown to Okinawa early in the morning instead of the originally scheduled Haneda-Fukuoka flight.
Equipment change from CSA livery A220 to Travel Service 737-900ER on CDG-PRG. Been ages since I boarded a Slovak/Czech-speaking airline. Guess the last time was back when SkyEurope was still in business…
Lucky equipment change from a regular Malaysia A350 to an ex-SAS one for the ~7h flight to KL. (Having grown up in Europe, it took me years to realize that parts of Southeast Asia are almost as far from Tokyo as the US East Coast is from Europe 😅)
Nice that ANA now allows one-way awards on non-Star Alliance partners too (at least for Etihad from Southeast Asia to Europe, one-ways from Japan didn't seem to work). Fuel surcharges and taxes add up but still not bad for 47,000 miles + ~500USD.
A fun day trip flying to Yamaguchi Ube on Starflyer, then taking the 500 Series Shinkansen to Hakata, and doing some night spotting in Fukuoka before flying back to Tokyo.
Painting an aircraft all at once = one Instagram post.
Putting on titles, then painting winglets, then painting tail, then fuselage = many Instagram posts.
If nothing else, Global Airlines definitely is a leader in the number of announcements. 😀
BREAKING @globalairlines first „fully“ painted #A380 reg. 9H-GLOBL rolled out just now in Dresden, Germany. Retaining previous cheatline of China Southern. No bets yet on Global‘s success. Will be operated by @hifly_airline#avgeek
Daughter logged her flight #12 the other day - coincidentally departing from gate 12. Couldn’t resist expanding her (my? 😅) aviation-themed picture book collection.
