@RoKhanna All spending tax payer money, not the same as private investment. Socialism at its finest is what you propose but you have to take from taxpayers to fund it which is ultimately worse than a zero sum game.
Wall street folks are celebrating @elonmusk for creating 4,400 millionaires. Fine.
Did any of them celebrate @JoeBiden IRA, ARP, CHIPS for creating millions of good paying jobs?
Our barometer should be opportunity & stability for the majority, not simply wealth for the few.
Elon just created 4,400 millionaires in a single day.
400 of them are now worth over $100 million.
These aren't VCs. They're SpaceX employees, and the list includes welders, technicians, and cafeteria staff, because for two decades the company paid every level of the workforce in stock instead of higher salaries.
Juan Hernandez immigrated from Mexico and took a $28 an hour contractor welding job in 2015. He says he didn't even know what SpaceX was. The company gave him a $10,000 equity grant and let him buy more shares through payroll deductions. That stake is now worth $880,000.
Trevor Hise's parents wanted him to take a stable job at General Electric. He picked SpaceX instead, stayed 12 years, and accumulated over 100,000 shares. At the $135 listing price that's $13.5 million. He's 37 and semiretired. His words: "The magnitude of this has been ridiculous."
The most telling detail came before the listing. Over 100 employees quietly banded together and negotiated a group wealth management deal covering up to $5 billion, because none of them had ever needed a wealth manager before.
Software IPOs have minted millionaires for 30 years. This is the first one where the money went to the factory floor.
@DemonFramed Cool, blame those who made this country great. Don’t look in the mirror, you are too delusional to see that those younger than the boomers expect more for doing less.
@SenSanders Taking care an Ebola situation in the Congo isn’t the American taxpayers problem. Protecting American citizens from those exposed is. Fucking communists like yourself need to understand that.
@chuckwjones3@jamestalarico ….and a self avowed anti-Semite, believer in 6 genders, socialist at a minimum and communist most likely does? You can’t be serious, this is moronic.
My thoughts go out to Tulsi Gabbard and her family, as her husband battles this serious health problem. I hope and pray that he makes a speedy and full recovery.
While the circumstances around her departure are deserving of our sympathy, let’s be clear: Tulsi Gabbard’s only positive contribution to our nation's national security is her resignation.
She politicized intelligence. She dismantled critical agencies keeping Americans safe. She weaponized the IC to pursue baseless election fraud claims. And more.
We must ensure that her tenure — marked by a devotion to the person of the president and not to the security of the country — represents a terrible exception at DNI and not the new normal.
@KatiePavlich I disagree with Bezos. Everyone should pay something. If you have nothing at risk you become a parasite and waste comes in.
The truth is, he collect plenty of taxes, we piss too many on stuff we shouldn’t pay for at all, allow too much fraud and think everything is a “right”.
@BasilAk14@JeffBezos This is silly. Corporate taxes are a tax on everyone. Corporations collect taxes as a cost of goods sold. This why politicians love them, it “hides” the real tax and looks like Robinhood. Eliminate corporate taxes, get wasteful
Spending under control.
@MatrixMysteries People agreed to it.
People agree to it and then don’t pay timely creating a greater risk premium.
People agree to it and the default, yep risk premium gets bigger.
Live up to your obligations and don’t take more than you absolutely need and this shit doesn’t happen.
@StevenJDuffield Not saying he hasn’t done some good but his average conservative rating is only about 80% and his siding with Biden on the safer Communities Act was unconscionable. He only supported Trump
99% since his election and that after not supporting his election to begin with. Sad!
@StevenJDuffield Go look at Cornies conservative rating outside of the past year and he is about 80% conservative in his voting and backing Biden’s Safer Communities gun control provisions is a total affront to the constitution and Texans.
John Cornyn is one of the most *effective* full-spectrum conservatives in the Senate. He's been a longtime leader and key player in killing bad policy & advancing good bills -- a true workhorse in a town of blowhards. Texans should ignore Trump and vote their self-interest.
@SenWarren If you were honest you would also state that those trades are in a blind trust and automated trading. Trump didn’t trade, a computer did so what is your point?
@SenatorWarnock Why should my income and related taxes be used to help someone who can’t earn enough to own a home and live above their means. History shows what happens when we do that and it isn’t good, but it is socialism which also isn’t good.
@RoKhanna If you believe that you would support eliminating the minimum wage and let the free market work. People should be paid according to their skill and value delivered. Market value is what a willing seller and a willing buyer agree upon. Wages are no different.
I co-introduced historic legislation to increase the minimum wage to $25.
As someone who taught economics at Stanford, here is why it makes sense.
The real minimum wage was $14 in 1968.
Today it is half, but productivity has increased 2.5x.
Instead of extractive capitalism, we need a free enterprise system that pays workers what they are worth.
