@anthony_bosman At least two of my undergrad professors later showed me the letters they wrote for me. I did get many warm and fuzzy feelings, and it also helped me learn how to write such letters myself.

@defunct0r As a student, I stayed in touch with some of my instructors on Facebook, and by sending periodic updates. As an instructor I also sometimes get periodic email updates from former students, and honestly I wish I got more of them!

@defunct0r I’m in touch with some of my former students, and it’s great! If you had a good rapport with them during the course, chances are they would be happy with periodic updates. Don’t take it personally if replies take a while, they may just be swamped with email…

@matenatica It’s comparable to any form of learning, at least for me. Over time things get clearer and clearer, it’s virtually impossible to learn something perfectly the first time! Often I understand things better after trying to explain it to my PhD student 🙂
