Media Framing of Crime Along Ethnic Lines: Divisive.
As an Igbo man, I have endured stereotypes, judgment, and labelling solely based on my ethnic origins. This is not an isolated Igbo experience. Most Nigerians have, at some point, been reduced to their ethnicity rather than recognised for their true character.
I understand the pain of the ordinary Fulani man today, often unfairly judged by the actions of criminals he does not support, has never met, and who are not representative of his people.
Even in America, such unjust labelling fueled the civil rights movement and prompted Martin Luther King Jr. to declare that people should be judged by the content of their character, not the colour of their skin.
Every Nigerian ethnic group is known for its unique traditions, occupations, skills, and strengths. Crime, however, has no ethnicity. A thief is a thief. A terrorist is a terrorist. A kidnapper is a kidnapper. They are bad actors, not representatives of any people. They must be identified, arrested, and punished according to the law.
We must decisively abandon the dangerous practice of blaming entire ethnic groups for the actions of a few criminals. It is unjust, it breeds hatred, and it damages our national unity.
Let us proudly celebrate our diverse cultures, talents, and contributions, rather than falling prey to stereotypes and prejudices that politicians and divisive interests exploit for their gain.
A new Nigeria must emerge—one where no citizen is condemned because of tribe, religion, or birthplace. We can cherish our cultural roots while standing united by justice, mutual respect, and hope for a better future. We are capable of this.
A new Nigeria is within our reach. -PO

“We said we have made savings from unifying the exchange rate, removal of fuel subsidy, even the light subsidy was removed. Tinubu is supposed to have made savings from all these subsidy removals. So where is the money?”
~Sergius Ogun responds to questions about Tinubu’s recklessness including the coastal highway project worth N15 trillion that was passed without due process.
"The person Mr. Bayo Onanuga posted on his X account is also innocent. They should properly investigate before making arrests. They first accused me, and now they have arrested another person. Although the person arrested deserves punishment but they should focus on finding the actual source of the video. They have the facilities to do that. I heard it may be the person shown on the screen, according to what a blogger posted."

This gross indiscipline should be addressed because this is a dangerous disclosure of disorder and disrespect to the Nigerian Army.
The military 🎖️ 🎖️ should treat this with alacrity.
It's very necessary.
I have said it many times that if Nigerians do not go head-on with INEC in terms of scrutiny, the Joash Amupitan INEC will deliver a poor election result, even worse than Yakubu Mahmoud.
So, Emeka Ike, a Nollywood actor, announced his candidacy for a House of Representatives seat in the FCT under the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Shortly after, Lere Olayinka, the media aide to FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, published screenshots on social media containing restricted data from INEC's back-end portal about Emeka Ike's personal details, just to mock him.
The whole public saw it, and people were not cool with it at all.
Following the public outrage and threats of legal action by Emeka Ike, INEC, as usual, embarked on a self-investigation of itself and thereafter issued an official statement outlining its preliminary findings on the issue.
Now, you may ask, what were their findings?
INEC said it conducted an internal investigation and discovered that it did not suffer any external server hack. Instead, it confirmed that internal personnel leaked Nollywood actor Emeka Ike's personal voter credentials to Lere Olayinka.
At first glance, that statement may appear reassuring. But on a deeper look, it raises even more troubling questions than it answers.
These are the questions that remain unanswered by INEC.
Why is INEC always quick to become a judge in its own case by embarking on self-investigation whenever there is an allegation hanging over it?
Secondly, why does a frontline registration official have unmonitored privileges to screenshot and export sensitive records of VIP candidates vying for election, since INEC claims it was an official who leaked the information?
Why does INEC's server lack tools capable of blocking, tracking, or flagging unauthorized digital exports of confidential voter information?
If what INEC is saying is true, then it indirectly means that in 2027, there is a possibility of INEC hiding under this same guise to explain away bulk data leaks that may have happened undetected, just the same way Yakubu explained "technical glitch" in 2023.
The Joash Amupitan INEC is not yet ready to conduct the 2027 election, and the earlier Nigerians beam their searchlight of scrutiny on INEC, the better.
The integrity of any election begins long before election day. It starts with the confidence people have in the institution conducting it. Once that confidence begins to crack, the credibility of the entire process is placed in doubt.
Nigerians must pay attention.

“Election have not started INEC has already started rigging. Make it make sense that you want to close voters registration six month before the general election. This is systematic rigging.”
— VeryDarkMan calls out INEC Chairman, Ojo Amupitan.
"Election has not even started, yet INEC has already begun rigg!ng, and we will not allow that. Make it make sense: the election is scheduled for January 16, 2026, yet you want to close voter registration six months before the general election. This is systematic rigg!ng."
— VeryDarkMan calls out the INEC Chairman, Prof. Amupitan.
Let’s go back to 2022, when the late Pa Ayo Adebanjo warned Nigerian youths not to take that election lightly. He warned that if Tinubu won, Nigeria would be gone. Sadly, many youths didn’t take him seriously.
Now, we have another chance to correct that mistake. This time, we must do everything possible to ensure this government leaves office. If we fail again, we may not live to see 2031.
Please, go and get your voter’s card now. The future depends on it.
“Nigerians should write a petition against Lere Olayinka, don’t wait for opposition to do that. It is your data that was breached!”
