Bought this $56,000 engine off Amazon while sitting on the toilet. Wasn’t looking for an engine. Wasn’t even looking for car parts. Just saw it, saw the price, and thought, “Yeah, I could ruin my life today.”

It arrived in a crate the size of a small coffin, which feels appropriate.

I don’t own a car that needs this. Hell, I don’t even own a car. I pushed it into my living room. It’s now a coffee table. My friends won’t stop touching it. One of them cried.

The engine makes this subtle ticking sound like it’s counting down to something. Every now and then it leaks a drop of oil onto the hardwood floor and I swear it smells like burnt money and broken dreams.

Customer service reached out to ask if I meant to buy it. I said nothing. They said “understood.”

Update: IRS flagged my account. My girlfriend left. My dog respects me more.

56 grand well spent.
