Her name was 𝐂𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢 𝐓𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐫. She was six years old. On July 3, she was riding in her mother's SUV in Ayden, North Carolina, when a pickup truck blew through a stop sign at highway speed and slammed into them. Calli was k∗lled at the scene. Her mother, Kelli Toler, and Calli's 4-year-old brother were both rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. (Fox News, DHS)

The driver, 33-year-old 𝐉𝐚𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚, has illegally entered the United States at least four times. He was deported in 2019, again in 2023, and again in 2024 — and came back anyway. Illegal reentry after deportation is a federal felony. ICE lodged a detainer against him the day after the crash. (Department of Homeland Security)

Here's the part that should make every parent furious: despite k∗lling a child, Corona was only charged with 𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐫 death by vehicle, failure to stop for a stop sign, careless and reckless driving, and driving on a revoked license. Not one felony charge for the death itself.

A man this country already removed three times came back a fourth, got behind the wheel anyway, and the system's answer to a dead 6-year-old is a misdemeanor docket.
