🚀 Identifying new eukaryotic signature proteins in Asgard archaea has been a fun, exciting, at times overwhelming (so many protein structures) but fulfilling ride so far with @Ettema_lab at @MIB_WUR
Our latest: Using de novo protein structure prediction and sensitive sequence searches we found many new eukaryotic signature proteins in Asgard archaea, suggesting the archaeal ancestor of eukaryotes was more complex than previously assumed. @koestlste https://t.co/SoxnBM2Iu6

🚨 New preprint alert! 🚨
Our latest work on Escherichia coli and the regulation of DNA replication initiation via DnaA titration on the chromosome, led by Lorenzo Olivi. Here’s a thread summarizing our findings. 🧵👇 @WUR@Ettema_lab @HohlbeinLab et al. https://t.co/A1qJ8aYShg
New preprint out showing exciting insights on how genome replication is controlled in E. coli, also by titration!Great work led by the amazing Lorenzo Olivi and great bioinformatics by @koestlste@MIB_WUR . And great collaborations with @HohlbeinLab Pieter-Rein ten Wolde @_amolf
New study in: https://t.co/ZFy5mC1JjQ Using nanopore sequencing, we identified microbial traits linked to severe brain injury in preterm infants. Enterobacteriaceae predominance ties to poor neurodevelopment, revealing potential therapeutic targets! 🧠 #Microbiome#Brain
Great work by Lorenzo Olivi, @koestlste and other colleagues from @MIB_WUR, reporting experimental and computational evidence for titration-based replication control in E. coli!
Our findings pave the way for further studies on how chromosomal organization and DnaA dynamics contribute to the control of DNA replication. Stay tuned for more! 📚

This study provides the first experimental evidence of DnaA titration on the chromosome in E. coli. This titration helps stabilize DNA replication initiation, especially in slow-growing cells, preventing premature re-initiation events. 🧬🔒
