OpenAI is taking the criticism around creative writing very seriously.

That includes the jokes about their models ranking poorly on Text Arena, the complaints about personality and warmth, and the broader feeling that non-technical users still haven’t gotten a model that feels specifically built for them.

That’s also part of why the Chat variants are taking longer.

They’re being tuned right now with a lot more attention on personality, natural conversation, creative writing, and how enjoyable the model actually feels to use.

One detail I find especially interesting is flexibility.

The goal isn’t to force one personality on everyone. The model should be much more customizable, so you can push it toward something very funny, very professional, very casual, warmer, more restrained, or somewhere in between.

Basically, the idea is not just to make Chat smarter, It’s to make it feel more like yours.
