I was at the National Mosque, Abuja, earlier today, where I joined the congregation in prayers for our fallen heroes as the nation prepares to mark the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day.
Our prayers shall continue to be with the families of members of our Armed Forces who paid the supreme price to make our nation safer.
In these solemn moments, we remember that sacrifice with deep appreciation. Indeed, the role our Armed Forces played and continue to play in keeping our nation safe and safeguarding the territorial integrity of our dear country cannot be overemphasised.
We remain eternally grateful. May their service to the nation and the sacrifices they made never be in vain.
I also had the pleasure of attending the wedding fatiha of the daughter of my late friend, the Ex CG of Customs, Alhaji Ahmed Hamma Kojoli, at the same venue.
I congratulate the couple and wish them a happy home. -AA
I will be competing to represent the beautiful and phenomenal people of the Oron, Mbo, Urue-Offong/Oruko, Udung-Uko and Okobo Federal Constituency at the ๐ณ๐ฌ House of Representatives using the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a vehicle.
See you at the party primaries in 2026.
I received the news of the passing and burial of Hajiya Amina Hamma Kojoli in Egypt, with deep shock.
This afternoon, I was at the Abuja residence of my brother Dr. Umar Ardo, on a condolence visit to sympathise with the bereaved family.
Hajiya Amina was wife of my childhood friend Ahmed Hamma Kojoli, former Comptroller General of Customs, who died about 3 years ago.
I have close ties with the family and this longstanding relationship shall continue with the surviving members of the Hamma Kojoli family.
May the Almighty Allah forgive Amina's shortcomings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus. -AA
If the second Aazan for Fajr is given, you can pray the Subh prayer before departure. However, if it is not given, you can begin your travel and stop to pray when the Aazan is called later. If there is no provision for stopping, you can pray inside the car while sitting.
The Prophet (SAAW) said, "Pray standing if you can. If you cannot, then pray sitting..." (Bukhari reported, number 1117). In addition, Allah says, "Allah burdens not a person beyond his scope" (Qur'an, Chapter 2, Verse 286). Based on these two references, you can pray inside the car while sitting as a last option since delaying a prayer outside its time is not allowed.
Regarding the total number of days for Qasr, there are divergent views among scholars, as no authentic hadith specifically mentions the days for shortening the prayer.
In summary, the most popular view is that as long as one is considered a traveller, he can pray Qasr. If he is not a traveller, they can complete his 4 raka'at.
Undoubtedly, it is an issue of Ijtihaad. For example, Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him), stayed in Azerbaijan for 6 months, shortened his prayers throughout the period due to the snow.
Indeed, Allah is the All-Knowing.
