this critique is unfair because "computer science" as a field is less of a single field and more like at least 3 loosely overlapping domains:
1. (computer) science: the study of the actual machines we have: CPUs, caches, memory, networks, operating systems, databases, compilers, and algorithms. this is mostly the world of the von neumann machine, and roughly what an undergraduate CS curriculum centers on.
2. theoretical (computer science): complexity theory, information theory, turing machines, quantum computing, lambda calculus, and type theory. this is the mainstream mathematical theory of computation, and probably the part most criticisms of “computer science” are aimed at.
3. (theoretical computer) science: proof theory, category theory, philosophy, linguistics, and to a large extent just general mathematics. not many really know about it, and it's also just generally really hard because you start needing to know graduate level mathematics. topology, abstract linear algebra, functional analysis, differential geometry, ... are very often used. "computers" in this case don't necessarily mean "equivalent to turing machines" anymore, and often times are intentionally weakened to obtain better structural properties (ala Lafont's interaction combinators). furthermore, it is the upstream of most domain shifting ideas in computer science. to say that "computer science" only studies things like turing machines ignores an incredibly important and unusually generative part of the field
borrow checking? linear logic, via girard.
types? proof theory, via gentzen and curry–howard.
monads and algebraic effects? category theory and universal algebra, via lawvere, moggi, wadler, and many others.
so complaints about “computer scientists” usually need several asterisks. the field is not just intellectually fragmented, it's also sociologically fragmented! these communities often publish in different venues, use different standards of evidence, require different mathematical backgrounds, and are sometimes housed in entirely different departments.
Hope they increase the block list to 500.
No, not 200. 500.
Most especially for the console players.
You are paying for online play.
You deserve better mannered opponents.
People who play like this irk me, cause like you ain’t go better things going on in your life except for griefing people who just wanna play the game? Lame ass mf’ers 🙂
I love this. But the problem is that too many casual players were babied into the current throw game that they'll probably give up.
Probably in the next T8 "DR" version after season 5 or so..

Hey BAMCO, do you want money in 2027?
Don't buff anyone, nerf moves more.
Then have Mai as the 4th guest character.
You might even get some SF players to switch over.
不知火舞の水着コスチューム、ガチで欲しいです!彼女本当に美しいし、このコスチュームを出したら絶対とんでもなく売れますよ 運営さん、ぜひ実装をお願いします!
We really need a swimsuit outfit for Mai Shiranui! Look at how beautiful she looks!

At a recent event in Akihabara, Japan, the first-ever gameplay footage of VIRTUA FIGHTER CROSSROADS was unveiled, running on the NVIDIA RTX Spark laptop.
Stay tuned for more updates!

After season 4 (or 5) they're probably going to launch a Tekken 8 "DR" version with the execution returned and heat even more nerfed (+if they want to make a quick buck by the time PS6 launches)..
There has been many discussion about leverless controllers lately.
My opinion is simple.
1.SOCD should only allow Neutral.
2.There should only be one button for each direction, for total of 4 directional buttons.
I think Last Input Priority SOCD and using multiple buttons for the same direction are unfair and bad for balance.
So I thought they would eventually be restricted.
I'm not sure whether Bandai Namco doesn't understand how strong those settings are, or if they've decided to allow them.
Had an amazing bootcamp and got some really good practice 🙏
One thing I love about Japan (and also Pakistan) is the passion for offline gatherings. Meeting players, playing long sets, sharing ideas, and improving together.
I always believed there are two mindsets in fighting games. One is being afraid that someone will “download” you. The other is: “Please download me, so I can find my weaknesses and become stronger.”
When someone adapts to you, it forces you to discover new answers and evolve. That’s how growth happens.
I really respect this mindset and I see a lot of Japanese players sharing the same approach.
Happy with my decision to spend more time here. Online practice in Japan is also amazing for learning matchups, but nothing replaces the experience of playing, talking, and improving together offline.
When using the Brook Gen5, the PS5 controller communication method has to be set to "Use USB Cable." It’d be solution if Sony made it automatically switch to USB whenever a cable is plugged in.
@MagicyanTK It's largely because your generation didn't experience arcade culture (consistent 3rd space). That being said,
the "hook" is different for everyone. You'll find it sooner or later, just keep going. Good luck.
